So I've had these braids in since the end of December (1 month) and I am getting good growth so far! The back of my head is really growing fast. Hopefully I make it to my goal sooner!
I decided to take down a braid on my edges because it was beginning to hang alot.

Nightly Regimen
My Nightly Regimen...
I incorporated Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship (Leave In) into my nightly regimen last night and my hair came out soooo soft this morning. I am not sure if the "HE LTR" is mostly protein or mostly moisturizer but I will try it out again another day. Anyway here is my nightly regimen:
- Spray scalp and hair with Scurl
- Spray with Peppermint oil
- Apply Megatek to scalp
- Seal with coconut or hot 6 oil

Thin to Thick Spolight.. Check out Latingirly112484 Progress!
Hey Girls,
How long did it take you to get your ends to thicken up? It took me exactly 2 years for my hair to get to where it is right now! Patience is key; I have never had healthy hair because I had no idea how to take care of it until I found Long hair care forum and black hair media.
Did you have to cut off your thin ends? Yup, in order for me to start my healthy journey I had to get rid of the bad ends.
What is your regimen? My regimen has been stretching relaxers at least 12 weeks. My hair type is 4a/b. Moisturize daily with Hawaiian silky 14 in 1. I co-wash every 2 days (but will be stopping this, because it dries my hair). I hardly ever use shampoo because it’s too dry on my hair and from now on only dusting my ends. I could have had longer hair if it wasn’t for scissor happy stylist. Thank god I found Juanita from Dominican essence salon she relaxed my hair today but only dusted a tiny bit. Also make sure u deep condition with heat! Drink lots of water. Low manipulation, I don't use gel or small tooth combs. Indian products are fantastic! That’s it!
What products or what method helped the most in thickening up your hair? Stretching my relaxers , low manipulation , Indian products(alma oil and shikakai oil) and deep condition ( 1egg, coconut or olive oil and VO05 moisturizing conditioner)
How many times a week do you deep condition? I deep condition once a week
What tips would you recommend a newbie? The most important tip would most definitely be to be very very very ^1000 patient! If you think getting healthy hair and growing long hair is going to happen overnight your heading for failure. It takes time and consistency. Getting to know your hair needs by experimenting with different products.
I am going to try and post a blog post every time I find a girl that has successfully went from thin ends to thick ends. This is just a little motivation for us who are having trouble with thin ends. For this month I am shining the spotlight on Latingirly112484!!! When I saw her progress I couldn't help but emailing her buggin her with 100 questions! Her progress is amazing! See what hair care can do for you. Latingirly you are PROOF that it can be done! Thanks Girlie!

Tip: Deep Conditioning MIcros Heater Blanket
Last night I was being lazy so I decided to deep condition my micros on dry hair. Instead of sitting under heat I decided to take a nap and cover myself with my heater blanket! I was thinking that if I slept under the covers with the blanket on high, the heat would help to penetrate......... Soooooo when I smelled smoke coming from my blanket and saw the mad looking fire man standing over me I knew I had F**d up!I'M JOKING! I woke up about two and 1/2 hours later and shampooed and conditioned, ACV, moisturized and sealed. This morning my hair feels soooooooooooooo great! This is something I will definitely be doing again. Yup, so that's a idea for you lazy girls like myself.

How Stretching My Relaxers Help Thicken My Strands
I believe the first picture is from July 08 and the second picture is from Dec 08. My hair has thickened up a lot but it is still not where I want it to be. I wanted to post this picture because I didn’t realize the improvement in my hair. When I combed it I noticed that it felt thicker but I didn’t compare it to old pictures. I think a big contributor to this came from my one year stretch. I may try to stretch for 8 months. I am not going to do a year because that was just too much of a hassle! Anyway in the first picture my hair was bone straight and in the second picture it looks texlaxed but its not. One side is actually straighter than the other. For 2009 I plan to have thicker APL hair. That’s all I want! If it gets longer that will be a blessing!
